The Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (UIN-JAKARTA) launched officially their brand-new Center for Students with Special Needs on 15th December 2017. The innovative service incepted within the framework of the INDOEDUC4ALL project puts UIN-JAKARTA at the forefront of the inclusive education pledge on the Indonesian Higher Education context.
The event was honoured by the presence of the Rector of UIN-JAKARTA, who endorsed the commitment of his institution to fully include students with disabilities. Apart from the official launching of the new Center, the celebration was also graced by the presence of Mr Alastair McEwin Australia’s Disability Discrimination Commissioner, who publically praised UIN-JAKARTA's initiative to create this service. Mr Alastair also illustrated the policies and key actions on disability inclusion of the Australian government, specially emphasising their international impact. The distinguished guests were accompanied by a representative of the INDOEDUC4ALL project who congratulated the University and the Staff of the new center for their efforts and commitment to work for students with disabilities and also announced the future developments of the INDOEDUC4ALL project which seeks to improve access, ensure learning conditions and develop employment opportunities for Students with disabilities in Indonesia.
